Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose

  • The role involves developing strategic partnerships, preparing winning proposals, negotiating contracts, and leading initiatives that contribute to sustainable organizational growth and profitability.
  • The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, identifying and developing new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, expanding market share, and positioning the Group as a preferred service provider across its business portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Revenue Generation:

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Generate qualified leads and convert prospects into profitable clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target industries.
  • Develop annual sales and business development plans.

Market Research & Intelligence:

  • Monitor competitor activities and recommend appropriate business strategies.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends.
  • Identify new market segments for expansion.
  • Analyze customer needs and provide market intelligence to management.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Conduct regular client visits and business review meetings.
  • Improve customer retention through excellent relationship management.
  • Serve as the primary contact for key accounts.

Proposal Development & Tender Management:

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals.
  • Identify tender opportunities from both public and private sectors.
  • Coordinate bid submissions and ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements.

Strategic Partnerships:

  • Establish alliances that support long-term business growth.
  • Represent the company at conferences, exhibitions, networking events, and trade fairs.
  • Develop partnerships with organizations, government agencies, NGOs, multinational companies, and strategic investors.

Sales Pipeline Management:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly pipeline reports.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on all business opportunities.
  • Track opportunities using CRM tools.

Marketing Support:

  • Support digital marketing initiatives that increase visibility.
  • Provide market feedback for branding and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to implement campaigns that generate leads.

Financial Performance:

  • Recommend pricing strategies that maximize profit margins.
  • Monitor profitability of business opportunities.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and revenue projections.
  • Ensure achievement of departmental budget.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of client engagements and contracts.
  • Present performance updates to executive management.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly business development reports.

Compliance & Corporate Governance:

  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Uphold ethical business practices in all engagements.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development (CIM, NIMN, ISM, PMP, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • MBA or Master's Degree in Business Administration or Marketing is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Experience preparing proposals, tenders, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding revenue and business growth targets.
  • 5–8 years progressive experience in business development, sales, marketing, or strategic partnerships.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in diversified business environments is an advantage.
