Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to support the daily operations of a busy kitchen.
  • The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, organize kitchen supplies, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
  • The ideal candidate should be physically fit, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
  • Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen workstations, floors, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Assist with serving and plating meals when required.
  • Wash dishes, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment.
  • Refill ingredients and kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries and kitchen supplies.
  • Ensure proper storage of food items in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
  • Support the kitchen team with other duties assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Steward, or similar role is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift kitchen supplies.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC qualification.
  • High level of cleanliness, discipline, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
