With branches in Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Calabar, Accra (Ghana), as well as outlets through strategic alliances with hotels, resorts, sports and entertainment venues, the company is positioned to meeting its clients’ transport logistics needs. The company is now seeking to recruit an Accountant.

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial records, reporting, and controls of the fleet management operations.
  • The position plays a critical role in cost optimisation, financial transparency, and operational efficiency within the fleet business.
  • This role ensures accurate financial tracking of vehicle-related expenses, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, vendor payments, and revenue streams while maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Record Keeping:

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and vendor accounts.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards.

Fleet Cost Management & Analysis:

  • Track and analyse vehicle-related expenses including:
  • Prepare cost-per-vehicle and cost-per-kilometre analysis reports.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Depreciation of fleet assets
  • Repairs and maintenance costs
  • Insurance and licensing fees
  • Fuel consumption and variances

Revenue & Billing Oversight:

  • Monitor billing for vehicle rentals, shuttle services, and corporate contracts.
  • Reconcile payments received via cash, transfers, POS, or other channels.
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and timely revenue recognition.

Vendor & Payables Management:

  • Process payments in accordance with company approval procedures.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices (maintenance, parts suppliers, fuel vendors, etc.).
  • Maintain updated vendor records and contracts.

Asset & Inventory Management:

  • Track spare parts inventory and ensure proper valuation.
  • Calculate and record depreciation schedules.
  • Maintain fixed asset register for fleet vehicles.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure tax compliance, statutory remittances, and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Strengthen financial controls to prevent fraud or misappropriation.

Support to Management:

  • Present financial reports to management when required.
  • Participate in budgeting and strategic planning processes.
  • Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Compliance with audit and regulatory requirements
  • Zero tolerance for financial leakages or unresolved discrepancies
  • Reduction in fuel and maintenance cost variances
  • Effective receivables collection cycle
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience (experience in fleet, logistics, or transport industry preferred)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) — added advantage
