Job Title: Machining and Welding Technician

Location: Lekki Free Zone, Ibeju Lekki - Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Valve Plant Team Lead

Job Summary

• Responsible for welding assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple types of machinery and equipment throughout the Welding department and perform various tasks in accordance with approved quality standards.
• Reviewing welding procedures, processes, and documentation.
• Carry out valve modifications and machining repairs as instructed.
• Executing welding projects.
• Conducting failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.
• Generating welding procedures to help the assembly and welding teams.
• Analyzing engineering designs for welding requirements.
• Perform welding and fabrication of valve bodies, bonnets and associated components where approved.
• Cutting and preparing various materials for machining and welding.

Person Specifications/Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret measuring devices, drawings and blueprints and the ability to display a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Practical machining and welding experience on industrial valves and valve components.
• Minimum of OND/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Welding & Fabrication or related discipline.
• Computer literate.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Ability to learn to set-up, run and troubleshoot all welding equipment in a safe manner
• Competent in SMAW (Arc), GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding processes.
• Experience operating manual lathe, milling, drilling and grinding machines.
• Minimum of 3 years industrial welding experience.
• Trade Test, City & Guilds or relevant welding/machining certification is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience in industrial valve repair is an added advantage.
