We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Geotechnical Laboratory Technician

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Sector: Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Construction

Responsibilities

  • Determining and performing lab tests needed for analysis and report.
  • Recording tests and compiling data for analysis and then reporting the results.
  • Discussing and answering any questions regarding the test results.
  • Cleaning, maintenance, setting up and re-calibration of all laboratory equipment’s.
  • Laboratory Material collection, catalogue finding, supervising and organizing research.
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the team lead.
  • Meticulous record keeping and database management.
  • Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs.
  • Organizing and storing earth samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety and integrity of samples.
  • Collecting relevant specimens such as rocks and soil and preparing them for lab analysis following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Receiving, labelling, and safely storing geological samples to be tested.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working as a laboratory technician.
  • Strong research capabilities and a willingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for team-based working.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities approaching them with logic and reasoning.
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology or applied sciences such as chemistry, physics.
  • Able to prioritize effectively, balance assigned task.
  • Great scientific reasoning and mechanical know-how.
  • Membership or eligibility for member with NAEGE or NMGS is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in geological and geotechnical interpretation with understanding of geological origin and processes.
  • Report writing and paperwork filing.
  • Minimum of a second-class lower degree from a reputable institution.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Familiarity with basic geological computer programmes designed specifically for analysing samples using geological data.
  • Proven time management skills, able to work under pressure and a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional analytical, mechanical, and organizational skills required for our constantly evolving environment.
