We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Credit Control Manager

Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

  • The Credit Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's credit management function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts while minimizing credit risk and maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • The role involves monitoring customer accounts, managing the credit control team, and supporting the organization's cash flow and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce the company's credit control policies and procedures.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and recommend appropriate credit limits.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
  • Lead and supervise the credit control team, ensuring collection targets are achieved.
  • Review aging reports regularly and develop strategies to reduce overdue receivables.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts through calls, emails, and formal demand notices.
  • Negotiate payment plans and settlements with customers where appropriate.
  • Escalate delinquent accounts for legal action or debt recovery when necessary.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable (AR) and debt collection reports for management.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Customer Service teams to resolve billing disputes and improve collection efficiency.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate recording of receipts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor bad debt provisions and recommend write-offs where necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the credit control process.
  • Support external and internal audits by providing required documentation and reports.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or finance.
  • Experience in the consumer electronics, FMCG, retail, manufacturing, or distribution industry is an advantage.
