We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Solar Engineering Analyst

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • This role is designed for an individual with a strong foundation in renewable energy principles and a keen interest in practical field execution and customer engagement.
  • Rivy is seeking a highly motivated and technically grounded Junior Solar Engineer to support the design, assessment, implementation, and maintenance of solar energy systems.
  • The Junior Solar Engineer will assist in conducting energy audits, performing site assessments, supporting system design and feasibility evaluations, and contributing to project Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
  • This position offers a structured pathway for professional growth while ensuring high technical standards and effective project delivery across Rivy’s solar initiatives.
  • Working under supervision, the Engineer will also provide technical support to customers, assist in preparing proposals and documentation, and support the monitoring and maintenance of installed asset systems.

Job Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Technical Assessment:

  • Assist in customer engagement by understanding their energy needs and requirements under supervision.
  • Provide basic technical support and guidance to customers.
  • Support technical assessments of asset and inventory finance loans.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and technical assessments.
  • Provide introductory-level advice and recommendations on suitable solar energy solutions.

Solar System Design & Energy Audit:

  • Aid in evaluating the feasibility and preliminary design of proposed solar installations.
  • Conduct energy audits to analyze customer energy consumption patterns and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, proposals and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for solar projects.
  • Collect and document site data required for system design and proposal development.
  • Perform site assessments to evaluate structural suitability, shading, electrical infrastructure, and installation feasibility
  • Assist in system sizing, component selection, and performance estimation under guidance.
  • Support the use of solar design and simulation tools such as Helioscope for system modeling, performance assessment, and proposal development.

Project Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC):

  • Participate in inspection of installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in documenting and reporting non-conformities and corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures during project execution.

Technical Support:

  • Support maintenance activities of installed solar PV systems when required.
  • Work with vendors to ensure assets are operational.
  • Assist in system performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Learning & Industry Development:

  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical expertise and customer engagement skills.
  • Stay updated with advancements in the clean energy industry, technologies, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry Awareness: Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, solar project development processes, and quality assurance/quality control standards in solar installations.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong foundational understanding of solar photovoltaic system design, energy auditing, site assessment, and basic principles of solar system performance optimization.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical thinking, communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Mindset: Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving capability, and a proactive approach to learning and delivering technical and operational objectives.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in renewable energy, solar engineering, technical project support, or related fields, preferably involving field implementation, system design, or operational monitoring of solar energy projects.
