Job Title: Assistant General Manager, Mechanical (Hydraulics Specialist)

Location: Obajana Plant, Kogi

Job Summary

  • They utilize their expertise in fluid mechanics, physics, and engineering principles to analyze and develop sustainable solutions for bulk material handling equipment (Stacker and Reclaimer), kilns clinker Cooler hydraulic systems.
  • A Hydraulic Specialist is responsible for Operation, Maintenance, Trouble Shooting of hydraulic systems for FLS Coolers, IKN Coolers, Loesche VRM and OK Mills.
  • This role plays a crucial part in the planning and implementation of various hydraulic engineering projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability. Exposure of Cement Plant Equipment Stacker Reclaimers, Rawmills, Kilns Coolers and Cement mill General Maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the construction and installation of hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Operation and Maintenance, Trouble shooting of hydraulic system Problems, including, Stacker luffing/hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic hose, directional control valves and proportionate valve, Cooler Hydraulic Drives, VRM Hydraulic System.
  • Performing hydraulic calculations, simulations, and modelling to predict the behaviour and performance of equipment’s.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential risks and hazards associated with hydraulic systems, and implementing appropriate safety measures.
  • Managing budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure plant success.
  • Conducting feasibility studies, including trouble shooting and assessments, to determine the viability and potential impacts of hydraulic faults.
  • Conducting inspections and assessments of existing hydraulic infrastructure, identifying maintenance or repair needs, and providing recommendations.
  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Conducting research and staying updated on the latest advancements in hydraulic engineering technologies and methodologies.
  • Collaborating with other engineers and professionals to develop comprehensive hydraulic designs and engineering plans in ensuring equipment reliability and optimization.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Above 15 years of experience in cement plant hydraulics Operation, maintenance and Trouble Shooting.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessment processes and regulations.
  • Experience in project management and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with Hydraulics Training/Hydraulics Special Course or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of study of Hydraulic Circuits /hydraulic Notations and Symbols relevant software and tools used in hydraulic engineering, such as AutoCAD, Microsoft office and SAP Module.
  • Strong mathematical and computational skills.
  • Proven experience in hydraulic engineering, preferably in the design and maintenance of hydraulic systems.

  • Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and hydraulic modelling software.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydraulic engineering principles and fluid mechanics.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex hydraulic systems and propose effective solutions.
