We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Managing Director

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The Managing Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and executive management for Rapid Express Logistics Limited.
  • The role is accountable for the overall performance of the Company, including business growth, profitability, operational excellence, stakeholder management, governance, regulatory compliance, and achievement of the Company's short, medium and long-term objectives.
  • The Managing Director shall ensure that the Company remains financially sustainable, operationally efficient, customer-focused and positioned as a leading logistics, supply chain and business support services provider in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the management team.
  • Ensure alignment between organisational goals and operational activities.
  • Develop and implement the Company's strategic plan.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and market expansion initiatives.
  • Advise the Board on emerging risks, opportunities and industry trends.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the business.

Business Growth and Revenue Generation:

  • Lead negotiations for major contracts and strategic engagements.
  • Increase the Company's market share and competitive positioning.
  • Drive business development and revenue growth across all service lines.
  • Develop and execute annual sales and market expansion plans.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with government agencies, development partners, NGOs, donor agencies and corporate organisations.

Financial Management:

  • Ensure achievement of approved revenue and profitability targets.
  • Improve cash flow and working capital management.
  • Develop and implement annual budgets and business plans.
  • Present periodic financial and operational reports to the Board.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure prudent management of company resources and assets.

Operations and Service Delivery:

  • Ensure proper utilisation of company assets and resources.
  • Improve service quality, turnaround time and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of all logistics and supply chain services.
  • Drive operational efficiency and cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Monitor operational performance and productivity.

Corporate Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure timely completion of statutory audits and regulatory f ilings.
  • Promote ethical business practices and corporate governance standards.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Manage organisational risks and ensure effective internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.

Human Capital Development:

  • Establish a performance management culture.
  • Approve key management appointments and development initiatives.
  • Promote employee engagement and organisational values.
  • Ensure effective succession planning and leadership development.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing workforce.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain productive relationships with shareholders, regulators, clients, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Promote and protect the Company's reputation and brand image.
  • Manage key client relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Serve as the principal representative and spokesperson of the Company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record in business development, strategy execution and organisational leadership.
  • Master's Degree (MBA or related discipline) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive management experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, teams and stakeholder relationships.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Management Sciences or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain management and business operations.
