We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Facilities Manager

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

  • The Facilities Manager is also responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programmes, contractor management, regulatory compliance, property upkeep, and continuous improvement initiatives that support operational efficiency and organizational objectives.
  • The role ensures that all facilities, equipment, and support services are effectively managed to provide a safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient operating environment.
  • The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance and optimization of the refinery's physical assets, including production support facilities, administrative buildings, utilities, infrastructure, and company-owned properties.

Key Responsibilities (Duties & Responsibilities)
Operational Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate pest control and landscaping services to maintain facility standards.
  • Manage space allocation and optimize utilization across the facility.
  • Develop and implement effective waste management and recycling programs.
  • Oversee facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs.
  • Supervise utilities management (electricity, water, gas, waste).

Safety & Security Responsibilities:

  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies within the facility.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans (evacuation, fire safety, first aid).
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of security systems (CCTV, alarms).
  • Manage access control systems and visitor management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security regulations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, and compliance.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Communicate facility-related updates to stakeholders (staff, contractors, visitors).
  • Prepare and manage facility budgets, including cost control and forecasting.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor/service provider contracts.

Sustainability & Energy Management:

  • Implement water conservation measures.
  • Develop and implement energy optimization strategies.
  • Monitor and reduce waste generation across the facility.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives (recycling, green practices, efficiency programs).

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Support change management initiatives impacting facility operations.
  • Contribute to administrative and corporate strategic planning.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives for efficiency and innovation.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage facility-related projects (renovations, upgrades, expansions).
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with management systems (QMS, FSSC, OHSAS, EMS, etc.).
  • Coordinate office moves and relocations.

  • Energy consumption and sustainability targets
  • Compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Budget adherence and cost savings achieved
  • Maintenance response and resolution time
  • Facility uptime and operational efficiency
  • Vendor performance and contract compliance

Competencies Required (Qualification & Experience)
Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field

Professional Qualification:

  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) or relevant professional body

Experience:

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in facility or administrative management

Competency Level:

  • Level 3 – Experienced / Supervisory
