Job Title: Credit Risk Manager

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Description

  • The Credit Risk Manager will evaluate and approve credit applications, perform detailed credit analyses, and set risk limits in line with the group’s credit policies.
  • The role involves monitoring loan and investment portfolios, identifying emerging risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • The Credit Risk Manager will develop and refine credit risk frameworks, models, and reporting tools to support decision-making.
  • This is a full-time, on-site Credit Risk Manager role based in Abuja.
  • The individual will collaborate with business units, finance, and operations to structure credit products, ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards, and prepare regular risk reports for senior management.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex risk issues clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience in credit or risk management within banking, microfinance, asset management, or related financial services, ideally with exposure to SME and retail lending.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills and Finance knowledge to interpret financial statements, build risk assessments, and support data-driven decisions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, risk management or credit certifications) are an advantage.
  • Strong credit-focused expertise, including Credit Management and Credit Risk Management, with experience assessing borrowers, structuring facilities, and enforcing credit policies.
  • Proficiency in Portfolio Management, including monitoring portfolio quality, tracking key risk indicators, and implementing strategies to manage concentration and default risk.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively on-site in a fast-paced environment in Abuja.
