Job Title: Program Officer - Research, Policy, and Data Insights

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • The Program Officer – Research, Policy & Data Insights will support the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of research and programmatic initiatives while strengthening the organization’s capacity for evidence-based programming and policy engagement.
  • The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and data visualization skills, with the ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights that support organizational learning, donor reporting, advocacy, and strategic decision-making.

Job Description

  • Strengthen data quality, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes while supporting data-driven program implementation.
  • Develop dashboards, data visualizations, and reporting tools to effectively communicate complex data and program outcomes.
  • Perform other related related duties that support the achievement of the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of organizational programs and projects.
  • Conduct desk reviews, literature reviews, and data analysis to produce actionable insights, policy recommendations, and learning products.
  • Prepare high-quality research reports, policy briefs, concept notes, donor reports, presentations, and other knowledge products.
  • Collaborate across organizational units to document lessons learned, identify trends and opportunities, and promote a culture of evidence-informed decision-making.
  • Support research, policy analysis, assessments, and evidence-generation initiatives to inform organizational priorities and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in research, policy, program analysis, data analytics, or related roles within nonprofit, development, research, consulting, or social impact environments.
  • Experience working with datasets, dashboards, surveys, reports, and programmatic data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Policy, Statistics, Development Studies, Data Analytics, Economics, Political Science, Research Methods, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, gender, social impact, or youth-focused programming is an added advantage.

Tools & Technical Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, and presentation skills with tools: MS Word, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Canva (for visual summaries).
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools such as: Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Google Data Studio or similar analytical platforms.
