Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Summary

  • Head of Store will lead and oversee all store and inventory management activities, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of store operations in alignment with established policies, procedures, and organisational objectives.
    The role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, optimising stock levels, ensuring efficient material handling, and driving continuous improvement in store processes to support business and operational needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of inventory storage, preservation, and stock arrangement protocols to optimise space utilisation and inventory integrity.
  • Provide timely updates and recommendations to the Head, Finance on end-user feedback regarding material quality, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, stock shortages, and inventory optimisation opportunities.
  • Ensure effective housekeeping, safety, security, and maintenance of all warehouse and store facilities.
  • Undertake a Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations
  • Liaise with the Finance team to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting in accordance with approved accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the Stores and Inventory team, ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, controls, and operational standards.
  • Oversee the review and screening of non-stock purchase requests to ensure compliance with inventory control and procurement policies.
  • Coordinate engagements with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, insurance providers, vendors, transporters, and other relevant service providers.
  • Monitor inventory performance metrics, conduct stock reviews, and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adequate preparation and readiness for the receipt of incoming stock by determining storage requirements, handling conditions, and resource needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Egbin Power Plc's data protection, information security, and records management policies.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory management, warehouse operations, cost optimisation, and service delivery.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and development activities for team members to enhance capability and productivity.
  • Develop and oversee goods inspection processes to prevent discrepancies and ensure the integrity of inventory received into stores.
  • Authorize expenditures and inventory-related transactions within approved delegated authority limits.
  • Collaborate with user departments to determine Economic Order Quantities (EOQ), safety stock levels, and inventory replenishment requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
  • Ensure that the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) achieve its intended results within departmental processes.
  • Engage, direct and support persons /units/departments to understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects, and Impact as it is related to their jobs.
  • Prepare and present periodic operational, inventory, and performance reports for the Head, Finance and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain inventory control measures to ensure the continuous availability of stock in line with approved standards and operational needs.
  • Implement and monitor controls to ensure all materials received from vendors conform to approved specifications, quantities, quality standards, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs, ensure the integration of the IMS requirements (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) into the departmental processes;

Education and Work Experience

  • A postgraduate Degree and/or relevant professional certification in Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' relevant professional experience in stores, inventory, warehouse, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Sciences, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good working knowledge of procurement policies, regulations, and applicable statutory requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of ERP systems, inventory management software, and other digital tools for stores and warehouse operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address complex operational challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and control systems, including stock monitoring, cataloguing, codification, and inventory tracking processes.
  • Knowledge of material accounting systems and inventory-related financial controls.
  • Strong knowledge of materials custody, storage, preservation, handling, and packaging techniques for effective stores and warehouse management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and convey information effectively.
  • Sound understanding of inventory management principles, stock valuation methodologies, and inventory control tools and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and a high level of accuracy in managing inventory records and transactions.
  • Good understanding of insurance principles, risk management practices, and their application within stores and inventory operations.
