Job Summary

  • We are seeking an accomplished, strategic, and results-driven aviation professional to lead the Airport's Safety, Quality & Compliance function and foster a culture of operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

  • The Head of Safety, Quality & Compliance will provide strategic leadership for the Airport's integrated Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory compliance, enterprise risk, occupational health and safety, environmental management, and business continuity programmes.
  • Reporting to Executive Management, the successful candidate will ensure the Airport consistently meets national and international aviation standards while promoting a proactive safety culture and operational resilience.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs), NCAA requirements, and other applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee safety risk management, quality assurance, compliance monitoring, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action programmes.
  • Drive enterprise-wide safety promotion, regulatory readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team while promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Airport's Integrated Management System, including Safety, Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, and Business Continuity.
  • Advise Executive Management on operational risk, safety performance, quality assurance, governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement the Airport's Safety, Quality & Compliance Strategy aligned with corporate objectives.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in aviation safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, business continuity, and integrated management systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Safety Management, Quality Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • A Master's Degree in Aviation Safety, Quality Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant professional certifications in Safety Management Systems (SMS), ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 31000, Lead Auditor, or equivalent recognised qualifications will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 15 years' progressive professional experience, including at least 7 years in a senior leadership role within aviation, airports, engineering, transportation, infrastructure, or another highly regulated industry.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and a proven ability to lead organisational transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
