Job Position: Fleet Officer (Logistic) I

Job Location: Dangote Cement I Coast

Job Summary


  • Provide support for the implementation of transport policies and processes by participating in planning/ coordinating the movement of cement products and/ or materials between the Plant and approved areas.
  • Effective management of the drivers.

Key Duties and Responsibilties
Operational & Functional:

  • Manage vehicular traffic, including loading activities (off-loading and on-loading) at the Plant to ensure overall orderliness and efficiency of depot operations.
  • Ensure appropriate storage of incoming materials at the designated facilities in the Plant.
  • Coordinate loading of products onto allocated trucks for dispatch to approved locations outside the Plant.
  • Ensure that all plant logistics activities comply with DIL’s Health, Safety, and Environment standards.
  • Coordinate efficient and timely loading of customers’ trucks with purchased products on a FIFO basis.
  • Develop and submit reports of logistics activities at the Plant and provide recommendations where necessary.
  • Ensure recovery of AGO for short kilometers.
  • Ensure all vehicles are coming with raw materials from designated location whenever there’s feasibility of collecting raw materials.
  • Ensure timely allocation of vehicles for collection of spares.
  • Liaising with Workshop and acquiring information on:
  • Repair and release of Trucks
  • Any other Emergency Occurrences
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Contributing to the overall performance of the service through the execution of the target objectives set for it
  • Participate in all performance appraisals organized in the organization (mid-year and end-of-year review of the PMS)
  • Attend training courses organized to strengthen skills.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Unit Head.

QSE Responsibilities:

  • Know and fully apply DCC's QHSE requirements, policies, procedures.
  • Take care of his own health and safety in the workplace and ensure that acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other people.
  • Take appropriate measures to minimize risks to quality, health and the environment.
  • Communicate any case of hazardous situation to the Top management or QSE representative.
  • Engage in the QHSE system by organizing all mandatory training and awareness
  • Propose and carry out improvement, corrective and/or preventive actions.

Key Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transport & Logistics, Mechanics Engineering or equivalent in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Postgraduate/relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth understanding of transportation industry
  • Knowledge on trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of macro and micro environmental trends, and the impact on the organisation.
  • Good knowledge of DCC’s product and service offerings.
  • Good research and data gathering skills.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good business writing and presentation skills.
  • Good networking and teaming skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity, honesty, reliability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Word and Excel, SAP
  • Fluent in both oral and written English;
  • In-depth knowledge of local and DCC approved QHSE policies and norms
  • Good knowledge of ISO standards.
