Job Title: Events & Design Intern (NYSC)

Location: Abuja

Reports To: Creative Director

Role Overview

  • The intern will work closely with the Events Coordinator and Creative Director to assist with event planning, vendor coordination, client presentations, design tasks, content creation and on-site event execution.
  • We are looking for a creative, organised and eager-to-learn Events & Design Intern to support our events and creative team in Abuja.
  • This role is ideal for an NYSC member with a strong interest in event planning, creative production, styling, branding and graphic design.
  • The ideal candidate must have a graphic design background and be comfortable using design tools to create visually appealing materials for events, proposals, social media, and client presentations.

Key Responsibilities
Event Planning Support:

  • Help ensure that all event details align with the approved theme, moodboard and client expectations.
  • Assist the Events Coordinator with planning and executing birthdays, children’s events, intimate gatherings, corporate events, workshops, brand activations and creative experiences.
  • Help with sourcing décor items, craft materials, props, gift items, printing materials, and event supplies.
  • Support the preparation of event checklists, production schedules, run sheets, setup plans and client briefs.
  • Assist with vendor follow-ups, confirmations, delivery timelines and setup requirements.
  • Support event setup, styling, activity stations, guest flow, breakdown and post-event organisation.

Graphic Design & Creative Support:

  • Assist with designing event moodboards, concept boards, colour palettes and client presentation slides.
  • Support the Creative Director with visual research, theme development and creative references.
  • Assist with photo and video edits for social media content.
  • Prepare design files for printing and production where required.
  • Help maintain brand consistency across all event and marketing materials.
  • Create basic graphic design materials for events, proposals, social media, invitations, signage, labels, menus, activity cards, thank-you cards, stickers, and branded event items.

Administrative & Operations Support:

  • Assist with preparing proposals, quotations, vendor lists, client documents, and presentation materials.
  • Carry out errands related to event production, sourcing, printing and logistics when required.
  • Keep records of event supplies, inventory, vendor contacts, receipts, and client preferences.
  • Help organise files, design assets, templates, event images and internal documents.

Content & Social Media Support:

  • Research creative trends, event ideas, children’s party concepts, crafts, styling inspiration and design references.
  • Support behind-the-scenes content capture during event preparation and setup.
  • Assist with creating visual content for Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and other platforms.
  • Help create simple graphics, flyers, reels covers, story templates, captions and content layouts.
  • Organise event photos and videos for future content use.

Event Day Support:

  • Assist with packing, inventory checks and post-event breakdown.
  • Help monitor timelines, supplies, and activity flow.
  • Support the Events Coordinator and Creative Director during event execution.
  • Assist with décor placement, signage, activity stations, guest areas, vendor coordination and troubleshooting.
  • Be available to support on-site event setup and coordination.

Requirements

  • Strong creative eye for design, colour, layout, styling and presentation.
  • Must be comfortable working in a hands-on creative environment.
  • Proficiency in Canva is required.
  • Must be proactive, reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
  • Must be a current NYSC member or eligible for internship placement in Abuja.
  • Interest in events, décor, crafts, branding, content creation and creative production.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and whenever there are events.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and follow instructions carefully.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, CapCut, or other design/editing tools is an added advantage.
  • Must have a graphic design background.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or background in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Mass Communication,
  • Marketing, Creative Arts, Fine Arts, Architecture, Communications, or a related field.
  • A portfolio or samples of previous design work is required.
