We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Station Cashier

Location: Asaba, Delta

Job Description

  • We are looking for a proactive Station Cashier who will be responsible for receiving customer payments, processing sales transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling daily sales, safeguarding company funds, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with the company's financial policies and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Cash Management:

  • Deposit daily sales proceeds as directed by management.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and zero cash shortages.
  • Maintain an adequate cash float throughout the shift.
  • Receive payments for all petroleum products.
  • Issue receipts for all customer transactions.
  • Secure cash and other valuables in accordance with company procedures.
  • Prepare daily cash summaries and reconciliation reports.

Sales & Transaction Processing:

  • Process cash, POS, bank transfer, and other approved payment methods.
  • Record all transactions promptly and accurately in the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Report any transaction discrepancies immediately.
  • Verify transaction accuracy before completing sales.

Daily Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile cash collections with POS sales and pump meter readings.
  • Investigate and report any shortages or overages.
  • Prepare end-of-shift financial reports.
  • Balance daily cash, electronic payments, and credit sales.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

  • File all supporting financial documents for audit purposes.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily sales, deposits, receipts, and cash movements.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and easily retrievable.

Customer Service:

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding payments and receipts.
  • Attend to customers professionally and courteously.
  • Resolve minor customer complaints or escalate them appropriately.

Compliance:

  • Ensure strict compliance with cash-handling procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Adhere to company financial policies and internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audit exercises.

Qualifications

  • OND, HND, or bachelor's degree in accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Experience in a petroleum retail station is an added advantage.
  • 1–3 years' experience in a cashier, finance, or retail operations role.
