Job Title: Senior Treasury and Financial Control Officer
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Description
- The Senior Treasury and Financial Control Officer is responsible for ensuring prudent treasury management, strong financial control, and strict regulatory compliance in line with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines and other applicable financial regulations governing Microfinance Banks.
- The role ensures optimal liquidity management, effective funds placement, accurate financial reporting, and maintenance of robust internal controls to safeguard the Bank’s assets and support financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Treasury Management & Liquidity Control:
- Ensure compliance with CBN liquidity ratio and statutory prudential requirements at all times.
- Coordinate cash concentration processes to optimize idle funds for approved investment placements.
- Monitor maturity profiles to ensure funds availability for daily obligations and loan disbursements.
- Execute treasury investment decisions in line with approved investment policy and regulatory limits.
- Manage daily liquidity position to ensure the Bank maintains adequate cash levels for operations and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts to support effective liquidity planning.
Regulatory Compliance & Prudential Management:
- Prepare regulatory returns and support timely submission to relevant regulatory bodies.
- Ensure full compliance with CBN regulations, prudential guidelines, and internal policies governing Microfinance Banks.
- Monitor key regulatory ratios including liquidity ratio, cash reserve requirements (where applicable), and investment limits.
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations including PAYE, WHT, and other statutory obligations.
Financial Control & Reporting:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial performance reports for executive review.
- Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards (IFRS).
- Supervise journal postings, accruals, and month-end closing processes.
- Maintain and update fixed asset register and ensure proper capitalization policies are applied.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of all bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Review income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger for accuracy and completeness.
Cash Management & Operations Control:
- Ensure timely and controlled disbursement of funds to branches/area offices (not later than 9:00am daily).
- Safeguard the Bank’s liquidity position against operational and market risks.
- Monitor working capital usage across operational units.
- Ensure proper documentation and approval of all treasury-related transactions.
Internal Controls & Audit Coordination:
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and coordinate both internal and external audits.
- Track and resolve audit queries and control deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Design and enforce strong internal control systems in line with microfinance banking standards.
- Provide all necessary schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents during audits.
Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to approved investment limits and exposure thresholds.
- Identify and manage financial risks including liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and operational risk.
- Implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies in line with Board-approved policies.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support:
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate financial data.
- Provide management with financial insights on liquidity position, profitability, and cost efficiency.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Supervise and develop members of the finance and treasury team.
- Ensure discipline, accuracy, and efficiency in all financial operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously improve financial control processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Leverage financial systems and technology to improve reporting and monitoring capabilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely investment of idle funds in line with policy – 20%
- Monthly management accounts delivered on schedule – 10%
- Audit compliance and closure of audit issues – 10%
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting – 25%
- Full compliance with CBN liquidity ratio and prudential guidelines – 25%
- Timely regulatory returns submission – 10%
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Strong understanding of CBN regulatory framework for Microfinance Banks.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Banking or regulated Microfinance Institution.
- ICAN or ACCA certification is compulsory.
- Experience in treasury operations, financial control, and regulatory reporting.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent financial analysis and reconciliation skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- High-level understanding of regulatory compliance and prudential ratios.
- Strong integrity, accountability, and control mindset.
- Strong knowledge of Microfinance Banking operations and unit economics.
- Leadership and team supervision capability.
Salary
N350,000 - N450,000 / Month.
