Job Title: Senior Lecturer, Nursing Science
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- He or she will be responsible for delivering academic lectures, mentoring students, engaging in scholarly research, and contributing to the academic and administrative growth of the department.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the teaching, research, and professional practice of Nursing Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in core areas of Nursing Science.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research and publish in reputable academic journals.
- Mentor junior academic staff and support academic leadership within the department.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research and clinical placements.
- Serve on departmental and university committees and contribute to policy formulation and implementation.
- Engage in community health outreach and strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions.
- Participate in curriculum design, development, and periodic review in line with NUC and NMCN standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse/Midwife with a valid license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Administrative experience within a university or healthcare institution will be considered an added advantage.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- A Ph.D. in Nursing Science or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
- Evidence of substantial scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Proven experience in student supervision, curriculum development, and academic mentorship.
- 9–12 years teaching, research, and clinical experience in a University or recognized institution
