Job Title: Senior Inspection Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary

  • This role delivers expert technical leadership and inspection services to ensure all assets comply with corporate strategies, HSE policies, international codes, and Nigerian statutory frameworks, ultimately maximizing plant availability and preventing loss of containment
  • Our client is seeking a Senior Inspection Engineer to guarantee the safety, mechanical integrity, and regulatory compliance of all static equipment, piping, and safety valves.

Responsibilities
Inspection Planning & Asset Integrity

  • Manage and execute the asset inspection system across allocated Petrochemical/Fertilizer/Refinery facilities.
  • Establish and execute long-term equipment rehabilitation, upgradation, and asset replacement strategies.
  • Identify degradation mechanisms; perform specialized asset checks, including Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) and atmospheric degradation surveys.
  • Conduct internal, external, and on-stream inspections of static equipment, pipelines, and utility facilities.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate inspection activities. Deliver routine status updates and actively minimize backlogs.

Engineering Standards & Technical Support:

  • Develop, modify, and update site-specific inspection standards and procedures to align with the latest industry code requirements.
  • Prepare/review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), execute QA/QC welding checks, and handle site-level safety valve inspection and verification.
  • Monitor Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs), track process upsets, and define the technical scope of work for turnaround maintenance based on operational histories.
  • Review equipment history records to evaluate failure modes, determine inspection frequencies, and establish optimal testing techniques.
  • Review and approve engineering test packages, Procedures, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

Safety & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Procurement to advise on repair techniques, material selection, and testing protocols.
  • Ensure all field and site-specific operations strictly follow corporate QHSE manuals and asset control-of-work procedures.
  • Input, document, and manage all inspection data and reports using the INFOR/PM system.

Performance Measures

  • Optimized inspection costs, maximum plant availability, and improved equipment reliability.
  • Zero safety incidents.
  • 100% adherence to inspection schedules.
  • Zero loss of containment (LOC) incidents across static assets.
  • Zero pending or backlogged inspection reports.

Requirements

  • High personal accountability, planning, and peer-influencing capabilities.
  • Deep knowledge of damage/degradation mechanisms, material selection, welding metallurgy, Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Root Cause Analysis (RCA),PSM, HAZOPs, and interpreting P&IDs/PFDs.
  • Meridium, E2G, PI, RBI software, Plant Manager, EAM Applications, ERP Tools, and MS Office.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (or related).
  • NACE (AMPP) certification is highly advantageous.
  • ASME, API (at least one ofAPI 510, 570, or 653), andNDT Level IIin PT, UT, RT, and MPT.
  • Minimum of 10 years of inspection and corrosion experience within a continuous process plant (Petrochemical, Fertilizer, Refinery, or Power plant).
  • Strong technical leadership, teamwork, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Fluent in English.
