Job Title: Senior Accountant (Manufacturing)

Location: Kano

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, inventory accounting, and reporting functions within our manufacturing business.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong manufacturing accounting experience, a solid understanding of inventory management, cost accounting, and financial controls, and the ability to provide accurate financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
  • Support external and internal audit processes by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Analyze production costs and provide insights into cost reduction and operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and variance analysis reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial records and reports in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, warehouse, and management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage inventory accounting processes, including inventory valuation, stock reconciliation, and inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory to ensure accuracy and minimize variances.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits and support physical stock counts.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory remittances, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and pension contributions.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and inventory records.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of cost accounting, production costing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in inventory management, inventory accounting, and stock control.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACA, or ACCA is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree / HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
