Job Title: Routine Immunization (RI) Master Trainer

Objectives

  • Enhance data quality, timely reporting (DHIS2/RI tools), and data use for decision-making at facility and LGA levels.
  • Support development of facility-level action plans and establish supportive supervision and mentoring mechanism.
  • Strengthen cold chain, vaccine handling, and logistics management including temperature monitoring, VVM interpretation, stock management, and last-mile distribution.
  • Improve AEFI surveillance, safety, and reporting, and reinforce injection safety and healthcare waste management practices.
  • Strengthen community engagement, demand generation, interpersonal communication, and equity-focused strategies to reach zero-dose and under-immunized children.
  • Build practical competencies of RI service providers on RI schedule, session planning (fixed, outreach, mobile), micro-planning (REW/REC), and defaulter tracking.

Scope

  • Activities include pre-training preparation, and delivery of competencybased training using updated modules and an agreed agenda, post training mentorship, and contribution to data-driven performance reviews.
  • The Master Trainers will support state and LGA teams to implement standardized capacity building for RI providers in secondary and primary health facilities, aligned to National policies and NSIPSS 2023 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Operational facility micro-plans updated, with actionable strategies for zero-dose/under-immunized tracking and outreach
  • Documented best practices, lessons, and an implementation plan for follow-up supportive supervision.
  • Improved knowledge and skills of RI health workers across priority competencies with percentage-point improvement between pre- and post-tests
  • Strengthened cold chain and vaccine management practices demonstrated through supervision checklists and on-the-job coaching
  • Improved completeness/timeliness of RI reporting and routine data use in monthly facility meetings

Deliverables:

  • Facility action plans for RI performance improvement (per facility trained)
  • Reviewed and adapted RI training agenda and materials aligned to National guidelines;validated slides, job aids, and checklists
  • Comprehensive training report with attendance, pre/post-test analysis, photos, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
  • Facilitation of competency-based training sessions (see sample agenda) including practicum and hands-on demonstrations
  • Supportive supervision/mentorship plan and tools; at least one post-training mentorship visit per facility within 4 6 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s Degree or higher in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine or related fields; EPI-specific certification an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and proficiency in English; local language ability is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office for training in management and reporting
  • Member of the RI Master trainers
  • 7 - 10 experience delivering RI capacity building with state/LGA systems and partners
  • Documented expertise in RI, cold chain and logistics, AEFI surveillance, data management, training facilitation, and supportive supervision
