Job Title: Nurse Assistant

Job Description

  • St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a compassionate, hardworking, and patient-focused Nurse Assistant to support nursing staff in delivering quality healthcare services to patients.
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, teamwork, and a strong commitment to patient care and safety.
  • The successful candidate will assist nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing basic patient care, monitoring patient well-being, maintaining cleanliness within patient care areas, and ensuring patients receive adequate support during their stay in the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in checking and recording vital signs as directed.
  • Assist in transferring or moving patients safely when required.
  • Prepare patients for examination, procedures, or treatment.
  • Help patients with feeding, bathing, mobility, and personal hygiene where necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to hospital policies, ethical standards, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient care areas and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of medical waste according to infection prevention guidelines.
  • Replenish patient care supplies and maintain inventory where necessary.
  • Monitor and report patients’ conditions or unusual observations to the supervising nurse.
  • Provide emotional support and maintain a caring attitude towards patients and relatives.
  • Support nurses during ward rounds and clinical procedures.
  • Assist nurses in providing basic patient care and support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as instructed by supervising nurses.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Certificate / Diploma in Community Health, Community Nursing, or related Healthcare fields
  • Relevant professional certification or license where applicable.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment is an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate care.
  • Physically fit and capable of assisting with patient mobility
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
