Job Title: Loss Prevention and Control Officer

Job Summary

Job Description

  • Apprehend shoplifters and individuals engaged in theft activity.
  • Identify vulnerabilities in security systems and propose improvements.
  • Carryout periodic inventory checks and Identify and report stock shortages.
  • Carry out other activities as assigned by the Line Manager, that would be required to achieve the company’s loss prevention and control objectives.
  • Monitor CCTV Surveillance Camera.
  • Training of security personnel and staff on loss prevention/control protocols, 5strategies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with store management to address security concerns.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement systems to minimize loss of merchandise, money, or company assets.
  • Investigate and resolve various fraud and theft cases as well as product damages.
  • Investigate irregularities with deletions, return and exchange.
  • Prevent and detect Internal and external theft, shoplifting and recover amount (such as: cashier fraud, corruption, bribery, theft, etc.).
  • Document and prepare incident reports as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in loss control or a similar role; in the retail or FMCG industry.
  • Relevant professional qualification or certification is a plus.

Skills Required:

  • Experience conducting investigations into fraud, theft, and product damage, including use of investigative techniques and evidence collection.
  • Understanding of fraud prevention and detection methods.
  • Effective conflict management and de-escalation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Inventory management skills.
  • Experience with inventory management and identifying stock shortages to support loss prevention.
  • Tech Savvy and Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of loss prevention strategies specific to the retail industry.
  • Proficiency in operating security equipment e.g. CCTV System etc.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements related to loss prevention.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and tactical awareness.
  • Experience interviewing and interrogating individuals in the context of loss prevention or security incidents.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and security risk assessment skills.
