Job Title: Head of Operations (Facilities & Maintenance)

Job Summary

• The ideal candidate must have strong practical knowledge and technical expertise, with the ability to diagnose faults, lead maintenance teams, supervise contractors, and ensure the facility operates efficiently with minimal downtime.
• We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and hands-on Head of Operations (Facilities & Maintenance) to oversee the technical operations, maintenance, and reliability of all facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, and general building infrastructure.
• This role is designed for a hands-on operations leader who understands the technical aspects of facility management and can actively engage with engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams while driving high standards of safety, efficiency, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Technical Operations:
Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and performance of all facility systems, including:

• Building maintenance systems
• Plumbing systems
• Troubleshoot and provide technical solutions to equipment failures and operational challenges
• Water supply and drainage systems
• Electrical systems
• HVAC systems
• Generators and power systems
• Ensure all equipment and systems operate efficiently and safely
• Conduct regular inspections of facility infrastructure to identify faults, risks, and maintenance needs
• Respond promptly to major breakdowns and facility emergencies
• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance schedules are implemented effectively

Electrical Operations:
Supervise and support electrical maintenance activities, including:

• Generator operations
• Electrical fault detection and repairs
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and procedures
• Power distribution systems
• Lighting systems
• Electrical panels

Plumbing & Water Systems:

• Pumps
• Sewage systems
• Ensure quick resolution of leakages, blockages, and water-related issues
• Sanitary installations
• Water supply systems
• Drainage systems
• Oversee plumbing operations, including:
• Storage tanks

HVAC & Mechanical Systems:

• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate repairs or servicing where required
• Cooling systems
• Air conditioning systems
• Manage HVAC operations and maintenance, including:
• Ventilation systems

Cleaning & Environmental Operations:

• Hygiene requirements are met
• Public areas and facilities are properly maintained
• Ensure proper cleaning schedules, standards, and procedures are followed
• Supervise cleaning operations to ensure:
• Cleanliness standards are maintained

Team Leadership & Supervision:

• Plumbers
• Ensure discipline, accountability, and productivity across operations staff
• Electricians
• Train and develop technical teams
• Lead and supervise:
• Technicians
• Facility Officers
• Assign daily tasks and monitor completion
• HVAC technicians
• Cleaning teams

Vendor & Contractor Management:

• Ensure contractors comply with safety and operational standards
• Evaluate quality of completed work
• Supervise external contractors and maintenance vendors
• Recommend reliable technical solutions and service providers

Safety & Compliance:

• Preventive maintenance requirements
• Maintain proper maintenance records and reports
• Ensure compliance with:
• Health and safety regulations
• Identify operational risks and implement corrective measures
• Facility operating standards

Requirements

• Plumbing systems
• Minimum of 8–12 years' experience in facilities operations, maintenance, or engineering management
• Experience managing technicians and maintenance teams
• Strong technical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills
• Experience managing commercial facilities, malls, hotels, estates, hospitals, or large buildings is highly preferred
• Building maintenance operations
• Proven hands-on experience managing:
• Bachelor’s Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management and related technical discipline
• Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices
• HVAC systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals
• Electrical systems
