Head of IT/ Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in a Fast-growing Fintech Company

Droomwork is seeking a strategic and execution-driven Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology vision, infrastructure, and payment systems architecture of a fast-growing fintech company operating within Nigeria’s regulated financial ecosystem.

• The CTO will be responsible for designing and scaling secure, high-availability payment platforms, overseeing POS/mPOS infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance (including CBN PTSP requirements), and embedding security-first engineering practices across the organization.
• This role reports directly to the CEO and plays a critical part in executive decision-making, risk management, and business growth.

• Define and execute the company’s technology roadmap.
• Advise executive leadership on technology investments and risk.
• Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering and IT teams.
• Establish KPIs for reliability, scalability, and delivery excellence.

2. Payments & Platform Operations

• Oversee deployment and management of POS/mPOS terminals.
• Lead integrations with banks, switches, APIs, and processors.
• Manage transaction flows, settlement pipelines, and reconciliation systems.
• Ensure high system uptime and platform reliability.

3. Compliance & Security

• Ensure alignment with CBN PTSP regulatory requirements.
• Embed PCI-DSS and data protection standards into system architecture.
• Lead security programs including vulnerability assessments and incident response.
• Maintain governance, risk, and audit readiness frameworks.

4. Infrastructure & Architecture

• Design scalable microservices and API-first platforms.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Implement CI/CD, DevOps automation, and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field is required. Advanced Degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc, or Ph.D.) can be beneficial.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior technology leadership role, preferably as a CTO or VP of Technology.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale technology projects and leading technology teams.
• Deep knowledge of software development, system architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in mentoring and developing technical talent.
• Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive innovation and change.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Understanding of how technology drives business value and supports strategic goals.
• Experience with budgeting, financial planning, and cost management related to technology investments.
• Visionary thinking and a proactive approach to identifying and leveraging new technologies.
• Adaptability and resilience in navigating fast-paced and evolving environments.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the technology team, including software developers, engineers, IT staff, and other technical professionals.
