The company operates in Nigeria and another African market, with plans to expand into additional locations. The organisation functions within a technically driven and operational environment, with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and service delivery.

Job Title: Head, Human Resources

Location: Lagos (with travels to the various operations locations within and outside Nigeria)

Position Summary

  • The successful candidate will bring a strong balance of strategy and execution, with the ability to design frameworks, influence leadership, and drive consistency across both corporate and field operations.
  • The Head of Human Resources will serve as the strategic HR leader, responsible for shaping and driving the people agenda across the organisation’s multi-country operations. This role will be instrumental in aligning HR strategy with business expansion goals, ensuring the organisation is well-positioned to scale sustainably while maintaining operational excellence.
  • As part of its growth agenda, the company is focused on strengthening its leadership capacity, enhancing organisational structures, and fostering a performance-driven culture across its operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive leadership to strengthen organisational capability, leadership effectiveness, and succession planning.
  • Lead HR integration and change management initiatives in support of business expansion and transformation.
  • Establish and standardise HR governance frameworks, policies, and systems across all operating locations.
  • Lead organisational design and workforce planning to support multi-country scale and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and drive the enterprise-wide HR strategy aligned with the organisation’s growth, expansion, and operational objectives.
  • Drive a high-performance culture through the design and implementation of performance management and accountability frameworks.
  • Provide strategic oversight on employee relations, risk management, and compliance across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide HR frameworks and systems.
  • Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented.
  • Proven experience supporting organisational growth and expansion across multiple locations or countries.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in organisational design, performance management, and leading business transformation initiatives.
  • Resilient and adaptable in dynamic, growth-focused environments.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience within maritime, oil and gas, logistics, or other operationally intensive industries is preferred.
  • Strategic and commercially aware mindset.
  • 15 -17 years of progressive HR experience, with 3 - 5 years in a Head of HR role of a medium to large scale organisation.
  • Strong execution capability with a hands-on approach.
  • Experience leveraging HR analytics and data to drive decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR practices within Nigeria; exposure to other African markets is an advantage.
  • Strong capability in workforce planning, organisational design, and talent strategy.
  • Strong understanding of operational HR within complex, field-based environments.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Relevant professional HR certifications (CIPM, SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent) are strongly preferred.

Candidate Profile:
Professional Background:

  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR leader with a strong track record of driving HR strategy within complex, operational, and multi-location environments. Experience within maritime, oil and gas, logistics, or similarly structured industries will be highly advantageous.
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to build scalable HR structures, support rapid business expansion, and influence leadership in high-demand, performance-driven environments.
