The Consumer Lending Specialist is responsible for identifying, acquiring, and managing customers for consumer loan products. The role focuses on promoting personal loans, salary-backed loans, asset financing, and other retail lending solutions while ensuring high-quality customer service, regulatory compliance, and portfolio performance. The specialist works closely with customers to assess their financial needs and recommend appropriate lending solutions that support both customer satisfaction and business growth.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prospect and acquire new customers for consumer lending products through field sales, referrals, digital channels, and strategic partnerships.
  • Promote and sell personal loans, salary advances, consumer asset financing, and other retail credit products.
  • Identify customer financial needs and recommend suitable lending solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with individuals, corporate organizations, and salary account holders.
  • Conduct customer profiling and preliminary eligibility assessments.
  • Assist customers in completing loan applications and gathering required documentation.
  • Verify customer information to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Liaise with credit, operations, and risk teams to facilitate timely loan processing and disbursement.
  • Monitor the progress of loan applications and provide regular updates to customers.
  • Follow up on loan repayments and support early intervention efforts to minimize portfolio delinquency.
  • Generate quality leads and consistently achieve assigned sales and disbursement targets.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and update CRM or sales management systems.
  • Participate in marketing campaigns, roadshows, and customer engagement activities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify business opportunities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements, internal credit policies, and ethical lending practices.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years' experience in consumer lending, retail banking, fintech, microfinance, sales, or business development.
  • Experience in retail credit sales or financial services is an added advantage.
