Job Title: Medical Officer I, Family Medicine

About the role
- A reputable multi-specialist hospital in Nigeria is recruiting for the role of Medical Officer I, Family Medicine.
- The role involves providing clinical care in family medicine under supervision, assessing and managing patients across out-patient and in-patient settings, and supporting the safe and effective running of the family medicine service.
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients in family medicine under supervision, appropriate to the level of the role, escalating appropriately.
- Participate in clinics, ward rounds, on-call rotas and procedures as required.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and current MDCN registration/licence in line with internal clinical policy.
- Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other services and supporting managed-care/HMO processes through evidence-based, cost-effective practice.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of post-NYSC clinical experience; newly qualified medical officers with a valid licence may be considered.
- Post-registration clinical experience as a medical practitioner, including completion of housemanship.
Required skills:
- Sound clinical knowledge relevant to family medicine and the ability to manage presentations appropriate to the role.
- Sound clinical record-keeping and competent use of hospital clinical systems.
- Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting relevant to family medicine.
Nice to have:
- Postgraduate training, membership examinations or a higher degree relevant to the area of practice.
- Evidence of progress toward a postgraduate fellowship (e.g. primary or part examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College or the West African College).
- Additional training relevant to the area of practice (e.g. life support, clinical skills, quality improvement).
- Experience in a multi-specialist hospital, corporate hospital network, HMO-facing health system, public-sector hospital or large institutional healthcare environment.
