We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Junior Registrar

Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The role also provides opportunities to participate in clinical teaching, quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and continuing professional development.
  • The Junior Registrar will play an integral role in delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based medical care to patients within the assigned department.
  • The successful candidate will participate in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients while receiving supervision and mentorship from senior clinicians.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Contribute to research projects, clinical governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Review patients in outpatient clinics, emergency units, and inpatient wards as assigned.
  • Assess, examine, and manage patients presenting with a variety of medical conditions.
  • Participate in departmental on-call and shift rotas, including weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient medical records.
  • Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans under the supervision of consultants and senior registrars.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Request and interpret laboratory and radiological investigations where appropriate.
  • Assist in supervising and mentoring interns, house officers, and medical students where appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide timely medical intervention.
  • Participate in daily ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Perform appropriate clinical procedures within the scope of practice and level of training.
  • Participate in departmental teaching sessions, seminars, morbidity and mortality meetings, journal clubs, and clinical audits.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:

  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing postgraduate specialist training.
  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting is desirable.
  • Full registration and a valid practising licence with the relevant Medical and Dental Council.
  • Successful completion of internship and any mandatory national service requirements (where applicable).
  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
