We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Guidance and Counselling Professional

Location: Kuje, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

  • This role is not for someone who just “listens to students.” You are expected to actively shape student behaviour, decision-making, and long-term direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, personal, and career-related issues
  • Identify students at risk (academically, emotionally, socially) and intervene early
  • Develop and implement guidance programmes that improve student performance and well-being
  • Support students with career planning, CV development, and decision-making
  • Collaborate with academic staff to address behavioural and performance challenges
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student counselling records
  • Organise workshops on mental health, study habits, emotional intelligence, and life skills
  • Refer complex cases to external professionals where necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree is a strong advantage)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience (school or university setting preferred)
  • Strong emotional intelligence, not theory, real-world application.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations professionally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of practical impact (not just certificates) in previous roles.
