Job Summary

ZST is looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join our Abuja, Nigeria team. In a hybrid working model, you will lead the end?to?end product development cycle, turning market insights into high?quality, manufacturable solutions. Your strategic focus will drive innovation, reduce time?to?market, and ensure products meet regulatory and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Spearhead the design, prototyping, and validation of new product concepts, ensuring technical feasibility and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross?functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and sales) to translate requirements into detailed engineering specifications.
  • Lead testing initiatives, including mechanical, electrical, and environmental trials, and analyze results to recommend iterative improvements.
  • Manage the product lifecycle in a PLM system, overseeing documentation, change control, and knowledge transfer to production.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Identify and implement engineering process optimizations, tools, and best practices to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Interface with suppliers and contractors to ensure component availability, quality standards, and cost targets are met.
  • Monitor regulatory and safety compliance (e.g., CE, ISO, local Nigerian standards) and prepare necessary filings and certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 7+ years of progressive product engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Proficiency in CAD platforms (SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo) and simulation tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills in performance testing, failure analysis, and root?cause investigation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of presenting technical concepts to non?technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or professional engineering certification (PE, PEng, etc.).
  • Experience with global product development and familiarity with international regulatory frameworks.
  • Background in IoT or embedded systems integration preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian regulatory environment or experience working within African markets.
  • Proficiency in a second language spoken in West Africa (e.g., Yoruba, Hausa, or Igbo).
