Job Title: Experienced Accountant / Account Assistant

Location: Nassarawa GRA, Kano
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports and support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Liaise with suppliers and other stakeholders on financial matters.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Process invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries.
• Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and financial books.
• Record financial transactions using double-entry accounting principles.
• Support audits and maintain effective internal controls.

Requirements

• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Good knowledge of VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and other statutory compliance requirements.
• Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality, retail, or service industry.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of double-entry accounting principles.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• ICAN/ACCA qualification or progress towards qualification is an added advantage.

Preferred Skills:

• Ability to communicate in Yoruba and/or Igbo is an advantage, as many of our suppliers communicate in these languages.
