Sabou Capital is an Africa-focused private capital fund manager investing in small and growing
businesses across Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal. We deploy debt and revenue-based financing to fill the SME funding gap in West Africa, with a gender-lens and impact-first approach. Sabou Capital Fund I is currently in its fundraising phase with commitments from leading development finance institutions and impact investors.

Job Description

  • We are a young, ambitious, multi-country team with leadership based in Abuja, Abidjan, and Dakar. As we scale toward our first close, we are building out our Abuja investment platform and looking for senior professionals who want to help shape a pan-African fund from the ground up.

About the Role

  • The Communications Intern will support Sabou Capital's communications team, contributing to social media content, press materials, and storytelling around our portfolio companies and the broader investment industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with writing and light production for video, documentary, and multimedia content featuring portfolio companies.
  • Provide general administrative and coordination support to the communications function, including scheduling, filing, and reporting.
  • Help maintain Sabou's content calendar and track performance across channels.
  • Draft and schedule social media content for Sabou's social media pages, with a primary focus on LinkedIn.
  • Support the development of press releases, media pitches, and press kits.
  • Support creation of blog posts and website updates

Requirements
What we're looking for:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Genuine interest in impact investing, private capital, or the West African startup/SME ecosystem.
  • Working French is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and an eye for clear, engaging storytelling.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple small deliverables with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using LinkedIn and other social platforms professionally; some design tool familiarity (Canva, Adobe) a plus.
