Descritpion

  • We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Chemical Engineer – Bids, Proposals & Business Development in the oil and gas sector to be responsible for identifying business opportunities, preparing technical and commercial bids, managing tender submissions, developing winning proposals, and delivering technical presentations to prospective clients.
  • The role combines chemical engineering expertise with business development, proposal management, and client relationship management to drive revenue growth and secure new contracts.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end tendering process for oil and gas projects. This includes reviewing tender documents, preparing technical and commercial proposals, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, estimating project costs, assessing risks, and submitting competitive bids that align with company objectives and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development:

  • Generate leads through networking, client visits, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and competitor activities.
  • Meet or exceed sales and business development targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the oil & gas, manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, water treatment, and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to increase market share.

Tender & Bid Management:

  • Liaise with internal departments to obtain technical, financial, and commercial inputs.
  • Ensure compliance with tender requirements, submission timelines, and company standards.
  • Coordinate bid/no-bid decisions with management.
  • Review tender documents, technical specifications, and commercial requirements.
  • Identify relevant tender opportunities from government agencies, multinational companies, and private organizations.
  • Prepare complete technical and commercial tender submissions.
  • Maintain an organized database of tender documents and submission records.

Proposal Development:

  • Prepare capability statements, company profiles, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare cost estimates, technical documentation, methodologies, and execution plans.
  • Develop high-quality technical and commercial proposals.
  • Customize proposals based on client requirements and project specifications.
  • Coordinate proposal reviews and approvals before submission.

Technical Support:

  • Ensure all proposed solutions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Support project teams during pre-award and post-award stages.
  • Provide technical advice on chemical products, engineering solutions, and services.

Client Presentations & Negotiations:

  • Participate in clarification meetings, negotiations, and bid defense sessions.
  • Follow up on submitted proposals and tenders to maximize contract awards.
  • Maintain CRM records and sales pipelines.
  • Deliver compelling technical and commercial presentations to clients.
  • Monitor bid success rates and proposal performance.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly business development reports.
  • Provide market intelligence and business forecasts to management.
  • Present company capabilities, products, and project solutions.

Qualifications

  • Oil & Gas, Engineering Services, Industrial Chemicals, EPC, Manufacturing, Energy, Petrochemicals
  • Certification in Project Management, Procurement, Tendering, or Business Development is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience preparing successful technical and commercial bids.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience with government and multinational tender processes is highly desirable.
  • COREN registration or eligibility is an added advantage.
  • Membership of NSE or a relevant professional body is an advantage.

Salary
N300,000 - N350,000 monthly.
