We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Biomedical Engineer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • The Senior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, functionality, and optimal performance of the organization's clinical and operational equipment and systems.
  • The successful candidate will play a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the organization's growth by establishing robust maintenance systems and technical standards across all locations.
  • The role will lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage technical vendors, oversee asset lifecycle management, and provide technical support for facility expansion projects.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment and Asset Management:

  • Develop and maintain an organization-wide asset register.
  • Ensure the continuous availability and optimal performance of clinical and operational equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements where necessary.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities across all locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, assets, warranties, and service histories.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Design and implement preventive maintenance schedules and programs.
  • Track maintenance performance indicators and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance standards, manufacturer recommendations, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections and performance assessments of equipment and systems.

Vendor and Contract Management:

  • Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, service providers, and maintenance contractors.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Coordinate service agreements, maintenance contracts, and technical support arrangements.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service delivery meets agreed standards.

Operational and Technical Support:

  • Ensure operational readiness of facilities and equipment for clinical and business activities.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and relocation of equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical support for day-to-day operations across all facilities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.

Projects and Expansion Support:

  • Support equipment planning, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical input for new facility developments, renovations, and expansion projects.
  • Ensure all technical requirements are met for new site openings and infrastructure upgrades.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Develop maintenance dashboards and performance metrics to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present regular maintenance, asset, and performance reports to Management.
  • Monitor equipment uptime, downtime, maintenance costs, and service levels.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement:

  • Train and support staff on equipment care and operational best practices.
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures to improve technical operations.
  • Drive a culture of proactive maintenance and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to the development of an internal technical services capability that supports the organization's long-term growth strategy.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience managing preventive maintenance programs and technical operations across multiple locations.
  • Experience working in a healthcare, dental, medical, or similarly regulated environment is preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in biomedical engineering, technical operations, or healthcare equipment management.
  • Strong understanding of asset management, vendor management, and maintenance planning.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
