Job Title: Head Chauffeur

Job Summary

  • The Head Chauffeur works closely with Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering & Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, Finance & Accounts, Human Resources, and other operational departments to ensure seamless transportation services that reflect the hotel's superior luxury hospitality standards.
  • The Head Chauffeur is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and managing the hotel's executive transportation services to ensure the safe, efficient, professional, and timely transportation of guests, executives, dignitaries, VIPs, airport transfers, and official visitors. The role oversees the daily operations of the transport unit, supervises chauffeurs, manages vehicle scheduling, ensures fleet readiness, and maintains the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, and luxury guest service.

Key Responsibilties

  • Conduct daily vehicle deployment briefings.
  • Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off services.
  • Plan and supervise all chauffeur and transportation operations.
  • Prepare duty rosters and work schedules.
  • Coordinate airport transfers and executive movements.
  • Support special events and VIP movements.
  • Monitor compliance with hotel service standards.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Transport Operations Management:
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of chauffeurs.
  • Promote teamwork and discipline.
  • Develop daily transport schedules.
  • Allocate vehicles and chauffeurs based on operational requirements.
  • Monitor punctuality and attendance.
  • Ensure transport services operate efficiently.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization.
  • Ensure professional appearance and grooming standards.
  • Chauffeur Supervision:

VIP & Executive Transportation:

  • Respond promptly to last-minute transport requests.
  • Plan routes to avoid delays.
  • Coordinate transportation for hotel executives.
  • Monitor flight schedules for airport transfers.
  • Provide personalized transportation services.
  • Ensure comfort and security of passengers.
  • Provide chauffeur services for VIP guests and dignitaries.
  • Ensure confidentiality during executive assignments.

Fleet Management:

  • Ensure vehicles are clean, presentable, and roadworthy.
  • Monitor the condition of all hotel vehicles.
  • Support fleet replacement planning.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
  • Ensure statutory inspections are completed.
  • Monitor vehicle repairs.
  • Schedule vehicle servicing.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance.

Vehicle Safety & Compliance:

  • Promote defensive driving practices.
  • Fuel & Cost Management:
  • Verify roadworthiness certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel transport policies.
  • Ensure vehicle insurance remains current.
  • Monitor validity of driver'slicences.
  • Ensure compliance with road traffic regulations.
  • Support transport budget management.
  • Maintain vehicle registration records.
  • Monitor fuel consumption.
  • Prevent fuel wastage.
  • Maintain fuel usage records.
  • Ensure accountability for fuel cards where applicable.
  • Review mileage reports.
  • Monitor transport operational costs.
  • Recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Conduct regular vehicle safety inspections.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

  • Maintain transport request records.
  • Maintain driver records.
  • Prepare accident reports where necessary.
  • Maintain maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks.
  • Ensure documentation isaudit-ready.
  • Protect confidential transportation records.
  • Record daily transport activities.

Incident & Emergency Management:

  • Respond promptly to transport emergencies.
  • Implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate roadside assistance.
  • Ensure emergency contacts are available.
  • Prepare incident investigation reports.
  • Coordinate accident response procedures.
  • Support emergency evacuation where required.
  • Report vehicle incidents immediately.

Guest Service Excellence:

  • Maintain professional etiquette.
  • Promote the hotel's luxury brand image.
  • Ensure passenger comfort.
  • Ensure exceptional guest transportation experiences
  • Support guests with local travel information where appropriate.
  • Assist guests with luggage where necessary.
  • Provide courteous communication.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally.

Reporting:

  • Submit incident reports.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization.
  • Prepare monthly fuel consumption reports.
  • Prepare driver performance reports.
  • Submit weekly fleet performance reports.
  • Report maintenance requirements.
  • Prepare daily transport reports.
  • Recommend operational improvements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Coordinate with external vehicle maintenance providers.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Security, Facility Management, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, and all operational departments.
  • Support hotel events and executive functions.
  • Promote teamwork across departments.
  • Support operational excellence.
  • Maintain positive relationships with guests and vendors.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities where required.
  • Maintain effective communication.

Health, Safety & Security:

  • Participate in driver trainingprogrammes.
  • Drive continuous operational improvement.
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Comply with hotel transport policies.
  • Recommend improvements to transport operations.
  • Promote safe driving practices.
  • Monitor service quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Maintain a safe transport environment.
  • Promote environmentally responsible driving practices.
  • Support fleet modernization initiatives.
  • Maintain security of passengers and vehicles.
  • Participate in safety trainingprogrammes.
  • Reportsecurity concerns immediately.
  • Protect confidential guest information.
  • Implement transport best practices.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor's Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of professional driving and transport operations experience, with 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in a luxury hotel, corporate organization, embassy, executive transport service, or hospitality environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing executive transportation, fleet operations, chauffeur scheduling, and vehicle maintenance is required.

Professional Certifications (Preferred):

  • Valid Nigerian Driver's Licence(appropriate class).
  • Defensive Driving Certification.
  • First Aid Certification(added advantage).
  • Fleet Management Certification(added advantage).•Transport & Logistics Certification(added advantage).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and fleet management systems is an added advantage.
