Job Title: Head, Business Development

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • Our client is transforming urban mobility in Nigeria starting with Abuja.
  • They want a professional that will turn those proposals into signed contracts.
  • They have government approval from the FCT Transportation Secretariat, a union partnership with AUATON, and active proposals with federal ministries, parastatals, and leading corporates.
  • The candidate willwill be their commercial engine owning every B2B and government relationship from first meeting to signed deal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial negotiationspricing, contract structure, SLAswith CEO oversight on final terms
  • Manage relationships post-contract to ensure renewal, upsell, and referrals
  • Close contracts with government agencies, parastatals, and corporate organisations for staff transport and fleet management services
  • Build and manage a pipeline of at least 20 active B2B prospects at any time, tracked weekly
  • Convert existing proposals (FCT, Defence, Police, INEC, CBN, NNPCL, universities) into revenue-generating agreements
  • Identify new high-value targets in the FCT before expanding to Lagos and Port Harcourt
  • Represent Along at government meetings, procurement sessions, and institutional presentations

What Success Looks Like - First 90 Days

  • Month 3: Close the first B2B contract — minimum ?50M in annualised value
  • Month 2: Deliver at least 2 formal presentations or live platform demos to institutional prospects
  • Month 1: Map all active proposals, identify the 5 closest-to-close targets, and book meetings with the decision-maker inside each

Qualifications & Experience

  • Physically based in Abuja you must be able to walk into offices, attend meetings, and follow up in person
  • Deep understanding of Nigeria's public procurement process due process, budget cycles, ministerial approvals
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving startup environment
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals worth ?50M+ in annualised contract value
  • 5+ years of business development, sales, or account management with at least 2 years closing contracts with Nigerian government bodies or large institutions
  • Active relationships with procurement officers, directors, or C-suite contacts inside at least 2 of our target organisations (CBN, NNPCL, NASS, Defence, universities, telcos)

Strong advantages (not required):

  • Background as a procurement officer or admin director in government you know how buying decisions are made from the inside
  • Existing relationships within the FCT Administration, National Assembly, or federal MDAs
  • Experience structuring Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements
  • Prior experience at Bolt, Uber, or a Nigerian transport or logistics company in a commercial role

Compensation

  • Base Salary N500,000 - N700,000 per month
  • Equity Options available for exceptional candidates.
  • Commission 1-3% on every contract closed
  • Performance bonus Quarterly, tied to signed contract value
