Job Title: Head, Audio Visual
Location: Abuja
Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the allocation of central resources—such as camera crews, mobile journalism (MoJo) kits, and edit suites to support multiple platforms from a single source.
- Manage the “Superdesk” technical infrastructure, ensuring unified content management systems (CMS) allow editors to see the full multimedia picture in real time.
- Lead the production of “story-centric” content where a single report is formatted as a TV package, a radio bulletin, and a social media clip simultaneously.
- Direct live newscasts and multi-platform broadcasts, ensuring smooth technical execution across web and traditional airwaves.
- Maintain quality control for all visual and audio designs, including on-air graphics and digital assets.
- Design and maintain a unified technology stack that supports non-linear workflows, reducing asset duplication and “copy-pasting” between departments.
- Implement and upgrade newsroom software for video switching, audio mixing, and live streaming (e.g., WebEx, Livestream, BlackMagic ATEM).
- Stay ahead of emerging trends such as AI integration, video-first podcasting, and emerging distribution platforms.
- Lead a multi-skilled team of audio producers, videographers, and digital journalists, fostering a culture of collaboration across departmental boundaries.
- High professional integrity with a deep understanding of Nigerian media laws and ethical journalism.
- Oversee post-production tasks such as video editing, sound design, and content archiving.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software components.
- Act as the lead technical authority for large-scale live events, broadcasts, and webcasts.
- Collaborate with creative teams to realize artistic visions through sound reinforcement and visual displays.
