Job Position: Government Liaison Officer
Job Location: Wuse Zone 2, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main liaison between the company and federal/state government agencies, including the CBN, SEC, NITDA, NIBSS, NDIC, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and interpret government policies, legislation, and regulations affecting the fintech industry, and advise internal stakeholders on their implications.
- Represent the company at government meetings, public hearings, and industry events.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
- Coordinate regulatory filings, license renewals, and ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Lead advocacy efforts on policy issues relevant to the company’s mission and operations.
- Draft correspondence, position papers, briefing documents, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the legal, compliance, product, and executive teams to ensure alignment with regulatory developments and emerging public policies.
- Provide intelligence on political and regulatory developments that could affect business operations.
- Support crisis and issues management in situations involving regulatory or government stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
- 5+ years of experience in a government affairs, regulatory, legal, or policy role - ideally within fintech, banking, telecoms, or a related sector.
- Deep understanding of Nigeria’s regulatory environment, especially as it pertains to financial services and emerging technologies.
- Strong network within relevant government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build strategic relationships and influence key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and political acumen.
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior experience working in, or with government ministries or agencies.
- Experience navigating CBN and SEC regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
- Passion for technology, innovation, and financial inclusion in Africa.
Salary
N250,000 – N300,000 based on experience.
