Job Description

  • You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze their impact on the company, and develop strategies to address potential challenges and opportunities.
  • You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with government officials, industry associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for Honeywell's interests.
  • By building and maintaining relationships with government officials and policymakers, this role will influence the development of policies that align with Honeywell's business objectives.
  • The Director of Government Relations will have a significant impact on Honeywell's ability to navigate the complex landscape of government policies and regulations.
  • As a Government Relations Director at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing the company's government relations strategy.
  • You will report directly to our Senior Director of Government Relations, and you’ll work out of our Nigeria location on a Hybrid work schedule.
  • Overall, the Director of Government Relations will have a direct impact on Honeywell's reputation, business opportunities, and ability to drive sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and report to the Company business, legislative, and regulatory issues that could potentially impact the business and recommend and manage a course of action
  • Coordinate strategy with consultants and trade association representatives to ensure active engagement on areas of interest to Honeywell, and that all are aligned in support of our business strategies
  • Lead development and advancement of legislative and regulatory proposals in up to 5 US states
  • Participate, serve, and assume leadership positions on industry-related associations, steering committees, and networking organizations to protect and promote the Company's interests.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with regulators, elected officials, civil servants, and other key stakeholders
  • Organize and drive communication with Honeywell senior leadership, including meetings, briefings, and campaign reviews
  • Develop and oversee the production of high-quality written recommendations, briefings, publications, presentations, and other collateral that communicate complex messages clearly and effectively to audiences, with a focus on government stakeholders

Requirements
You must have:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong knowledge of government processes, policies, and regulations
  • 8+ years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a related field
  • Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
