Job Title: Courier Team Lead

Location: Ikeja - Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday – Saturday (4PM – 7AM)

Job Description

  • The Team Lead serves as the first level of supervision within the warehouse, providing guidance, monitoring productivity, maintaining discipline, and reporting operational issues to the Operations Supervisor.
  • The Team Lead ensures that operational targets are achieved, staff comply with Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and parcels are processed accurately and within the required timelines.
  • The Team Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of Sorters and Warehouse Staff to ensure the efficient receiving, sorting, scanning, loading, and dispatch of parcels.

Key Responsibilities
Team Coordination:

  • Lead and supervise assigned warehouse staff during each shift.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Allocate daily tasks and responsibilities to team members.
  • Ensure staff understand their duties and operational targets.
  • Monitor team performance and productivity throughout the shift.

Parcel Sorting Operations:

  • Ensure all parcels are sorted accurately according to destination, hub, route, and delivery schedule.
  • Verify that parcels are placed in the correct sorting locations.
  • Minimize sorting errors, misplaced parcels, and misrouting.
  • Ensure priority and express shipments are processed first.

Scanning & System Accuracy:

  • Report system errors or scanning issues immediately.
  • Verify that scanning records correspond with physical parcel movements.
  • Ensure all parcels are scanned accurately and updated in the Company's system.
  • Monitor scan compliance throughout the shift.

Loading & Dispatch:

  • Verify parcel quantities before dispatch.
  • Ensure parcels are loaded correctly according to destination and dispatch schedule.
  • Prevent loading errors that may result in delivery delays.
  • Supervise loading and unloading activities.

Staff Attendance & Discipline:

  • Enforce Company rules, regulations, and operational standards.
  • Monitor staff attendance and punctuality.
  • Conduct attendance checks and report absenteeism, lateness, or misconduct to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensure staff report to work on time and remain at their assigned workstations.

Operational Performance:

  • Monitor team productivity and identify performance gaps.
  • Support the achievement of customer delivery timelines, including priority clients such as TEMU.
  • Assist in reducing warehouse backlog.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure daily sorting and dispatch targets are achieved.

Quality Control:

  • Verify parcel labels and documentation before dispatch.
  • Ensure parcels are handled carefully to prevent damage or loss.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational procedures and quality standards.
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, or suspicious parcels.

Health, Safety & Security:

  • Ensure Company equipment and assets are properly handled and secured.
  • Report accidents, hazards, or security concerns immediately.
  • Ensure staff comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Reporting:

  • Equipment issues.
  • Warehouse incidents
  • Sorting performance
  • Operational challenges
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Daily team productivity
  • Prepare and submit reports on:
  • Parcel discrepancies
  • Dispatch activities
  • Staff performance

Communication:

  • Escalate operational challenges requiring immediate attention.
  • Communicate Management directives clearly to team members.
  • Serve as the communication link between the Operations Supervisor and warehouse staff.
  • Participate in shift briefings and operational meetings.

Staff Development:

  • Reduction in warehouse backlog.
  • Compliance with SOPs.
  • Staff attendance and punctuality.
  • Encourage teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Mentor team members to improve productivity and performance.
  • Scanning accuracy.
  • Customer complaint reduction.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Parcel sorting accuracy.
  • TEMU timeline compliance.
  • Safety and housekeeping compliance.
  • Identify staff training needs and recommend development opportunities.
  • Reduction in parcel loss and damage.
  • Dispatch completion within approved timelines.

  • Train new Sorters on warehouse procedures and SOPs.

Remuneration
N120,000 – N150,000 monthly.
