Job Title: Project Civil Engineer

Location: Sagamu, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • Additionally, the role supports plant maintenance by ensuring the safety of structures and prepares job assessment and completion certificates for project.
  • The role supervises project execution, ensuring safety, quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness, and participates in contractor selection and evaluation.
  • Key duties include preparing working drawings, Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME), and schedules of work for projects.
  • The role is responsible for overseeing civil projects and reporting to the Project Manager, involving design and opportunity studies for civil / structural and plant projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out design of civil projects:
    • Civil, structural and architectural designs are carried out in consideration to- the end users’ specification and requirement, existing conditions and ground situations, climatic conditions, material selection / availability etc.
  • Preparation of preliminary as well as working drawings:
    • The relevant software (AutoCAD) used to produce drawings for presentation purposes as well as final working drawings.
  • This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and the job holder may be required to perform duties outside of this as operationally required.
  • Participation in selection of contractor for projects in conjunction with procurement (bidding process):
    • During the tendering / bidding process, contractors are evaluated technically to determine their competence and capabilities regarding the particular project.
    • Also involved in the final selection of whichever contractor is to be awarded a job.
  • Give technical support to other departments:
    • Provide the needed Technical support to other departments in the plant including Operations / Administration / Facilities / Community Relations / Logistics, etc.
  • Safety and Integrity of Plant Structure:
    • Participates in assessing the conditions of roads, buildings and structures in the plant, advice responsibles on plan for maintenance, improvements and / or demolition to ensure safety and integrity of structures at all times.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any Engineering discipline (Civil / Structural).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-years of cognate experience in consulting / construction industry.

Required Skills:

  • Vendor and contractor coordination / management.
  • Cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Project planning, scheduling .
  • Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer Skills especially Excel, word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and email applications.
