Job Title: ICSS Maintenance Lead

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Purpose

  • The Lead ICSS Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and integrity of all Instrumentation, Control, and Safety Systems (ICSS) onboard the FPSO.
  • This position provides leadership, technical expertise, and operational support to maintain high system availability, ensure compliance with company standards, and optimize plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance:

  • Troubleshoot complex ICSS failures and provide root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Validate and approve system modifications, logic changes, and engineering requests.
  • Manage ICSS software updates, patches, and backups to maintain integrity and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Lead the operation and maintenance of all ICSS systems (DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC, SCADA) to ensure maximum reliability and safety of the FPSO.
  • Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks in alignment with maintenance plans and OEM recommendations.
  • Ensure the implementation of functional safety standards (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511).

Team Leadership & Coordination:

  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of all ICSS activities, interventions, and system status.
  • Liaise closely with the onshore support team and system vendors for remote troubleshooting and technical assistance.
  • Supervise and mentor the ICSS and Instrumentation technicians offshore.
  • Coordinate with other discipline leads (Electrical, Mechanical, Process, HSE) to support integrated maintenance campaigns.

Reliability & Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor ICSS system performance KPIs and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that all ICSS systems meet Client standards for integrity, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MoC) reviews, risk assessments, and reliability studies.
  • Develop and optimize maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve system resilience.

HSE & Compliance:

  • Guarantee compliance with offshore safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Functional Safety Assessments and ensure SIL verification and validation activities are performed.
  • Promote and enforce company HSE policied and ensure safe execution of all ICSS activities

About You
Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with major ICSS vendor platforms (e.g., Yokogawa, Honeywell, ABB, Emerson, Siemens, Schneider).
  • Proven background in control & safety system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Must have 5–10 years of experience in ICSS, including at least 3 years in offshore FPSO operations and maintenance.
  • Experience in oil & gas production, FPSO systems, and offshore safety management.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Good understanding of process control, safety systems, and instrumentation principles.
  • Proficient in ICSS configuration tools, logic programming, and system diagnostics.

Additional Information:

  • Expected to participate in emergency response and critical maintenance operations as required.
  • Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off in Nigeria
  • Work environment: Offshore FPSO with multicultural teams.
