Job Summary

  • The role is a primary revenue contributor within Block A, personally accountable for alliance-attributed cyber revenue and acting as the senior KPMG face to Microsoft's security partner ecosystem.
  • This role combines senior client-facing presence with deep cybersecurity transformation expertise - owning the end-to-end pursuit and delivery of cybersecurity mandates including SOC deployments, IAM programmes, Zero Trust architectures, and cyber resilience frameworks.
  • The Cyber Transformation Lead is an Associate director-level role accountable for converting KPMG's Microsoft Security and Cyber alliance pipeline into signed, delivering, revenue-generating engagements across Africa.

Base location:

  • Your location will be determined based on your location. Our main hubs are located in Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi.

Key roles and responsibilities
Cyber Pipeline Conversion and Revenue Ownership (45%):

  • Shape complex cyber mandates - SOC buildouts, IAM transformations, Zero Trust programmes - into commercially viable, KPMG-deliverable propositions.
  • Lead all major cyber transformation pursuits from client qualification through to contract signature, serving as the most senior technical and commercial voice in client meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Microsoft's security partner team, cloud solution architects, and alliance managers to maintain a healthy joint pipeline.
  • Own a personally accountable cyber revenue target within the T&I business, with primary attribution to Microsoft Security and Cyber alliance-originated opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Alliance Market Lead – Microsoft (Block D) to ensure all cyber pipeline is progressed with the appropriate commercial rigour and bid investment.

Delivery Leadership (35%):

  • Enforce RAID discipline and escalation protocols on all engagements; intervene early on commercial or technical risk.
  • Lead the delivery of large-scale cybersecurity transformation programmes, including oversight of multi-disciplinary delivery teams, alliance partner resources, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Maintain a library of KPMG-owned cyber delivery assets, methodologies, and accelerators - working with Block E to codify and scale these.
  • Personally accountable for delivery quality, client satisfaction, and margin on all cyber mandates within the portfolio.
  • Represent KPMG T&I as the senior technical authority in client steering committees and executive project boards.

Market and Alliance Development (20%):

  • Support the development of go-to-market propositions with Microsoft that differentiate KPMG in the African market.
  • Mentor and develop the cybersecurity capability within the broader T&I team, building delivery depth and technical credibility.
  • Contribute to the annual T&I planning process with pipeline forecasts, headcount recommendations, and market intelligence.
  • Contribute to KPMG's cybersecurity thought leadership, publishing insights, speaking at industry events, and building KPMG's profile in the African cyber community.

Requirements
Academic/ Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Microsoft Security certifications (SC-100, SC-200 or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated track record of working within Microsoft's partner ecosystem to originate and deliver cyber solutions.
  • Proven experience delivering cybersecurity transformation programmes (SOC, IAM, Zero Trust, Cyber Resilience) for major enterprise or government clients in Africa.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a client-facing consulting or advisory role.
  • CISSP, CISM, or equivalent cybersecurity certification required.

Technical competencies & Personal attributes:

  • Alliance fluency: comfortable navigating Microsoft partner processes, co-sell motions, and alliance governance.
  • Commercial mindset: able to translate technical capability into commercially structured, margin-protected proposals.
  • Capacity building - Takes a lead in building capability of team to future proof workforce and full utilization of existing workforce.
  • Stakeholder management: provide support to various management and leadership levels, as well as work well independently.
  • Deep technical authority in cybersecurity with the credibility to lead client conversations at CISO and Board level.
  • Personal effectiveness - Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Communication and influence: able to articulate cyber risk and transformation priorities to non-technical executives.
  • Risk management-lead in ensuring full compliance with KPMG quality & risk management requirements
  • Performance management - Be a performance manager to the team in line with performance management guidelines.
  • People management - Leadership & management skills.
  • Multicultural agility: able to operate across multiple African jurisdictions and client cultures.
  • Delivery ownership: personally comfortable owning large cyber programmes end-to-end, not just advising.
