Job Summary and Purpose

  • The Manager will support the growth of the Finance and Accounting Advisory business by identifying, shaping and converting opportunities with banks and major financial institutions, while leading high-quality delivery across finance transformation, performance management, strategy, funding and accounting advisory engagements.
  • The role requires a dynamic professional who can operate confidently with senior client stakeholders, translate market developments into commercially relevant propositions, and bring modern technology and responsible AI-enabled approaches into finance and advisory work where they improve quality, insight, efficiency and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Business development and market growth:

  • Identify, qualify and progress opportunities across banks, Development Finance institutions, insurers, asset managers, fintech-enabled institutions and other significant financial institutions.
  • Develop account plans, sector propositions and pursuit strategies that align PwC capabilities with client priorities such as growth, profitability, regulation, capital optimisation, digital finance, cost efficiency and operating model improvement.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships across finance, strategy, treasury, risk, operations, technology and executive management functions within target institutions.
  • Translate market, regulatory and technology trends into relevant points of view, thought leadership, client workshops and repeatable advisory offerings.
  • Lead or support client conversations, proposal development, pitch materials, commercial models and contracting processes in line with firm standards.

Engagement leadership and delivery excellence:

  • Manage project economics, resourcing, billing, collections and net investment in clients within agreed targets.
  • Lead engagements across revenue and cost optimisation, finance function effectiveness, financial planning and analysis, performance management, financial reporting, accounting standards implementation, portfolio and funds management, treasury and funding-related advisory.
  • Manage a portfolio of Finance and Accounting Advisory engagements, including planning, execution, stakeholder management, quality control, profitability and delivery against agreed scope and timelines.
  • Provide practical advice to clients on finance operating models, governance, policies, controls, processes, systems, data and reporting requirements.
  • Supervise teams on assignments, coach team members, review outputs and ensure that deliverables are technically robust, commercially relevant, and clearly communicated.

Strategy, finance and transformation advisory:

  • Advise clients on financial planning, capital allocation, funding structures, financing options, business case development and investment decision support.
  • Design target operating models for finance functions and support implementation through policy development, process redesign, controls enhancement, role definition, training and change management.
  • Support banking and financial institution clients on finance-related implications of regulation, prudential expectations, risk management, capital, liquidity, profitability and reporting requirements.
  • Support clients in setting, developing and monitoring business, finance and functional strategies, including translating strategic priorities into measurable initiatives, dashboards and performance routines.
  • Assess client finance functions across strategy, structure, people, process, systems, data and controls; benchmark against leading practice and develop pragmatic improvement roadmaps.

Technology, data and AI-enabled ways of working:

  • Apply a practical understanding of finance technology, enterprise systems, data analytics, automation and AI-enabled tools to improve advisory delivery and client finance operations.
  • Use data-driven analysis to generate insights, test assumptions, monitor performance, and support decision-making across client engagements.
  • Stay current on relevant developments in financial services technology, digital finance, analytics, and emerging operating models.
  • Promote appropriate governance, quality review, confidentiality, ethical use and human oversight when using AI-enabled tools in client service and internal delivery.
  • Help clients evaluate and select finance and accounting systems using structured cost-benefit, risk, control, integration and adoption considerations.

Practice development and people leadership:

  • Participate in counselling, mentoring, knowledge sharing and capability development for less experienced staff.
  • Contribute to annual plans, budgets, priorities and growth initiatives for the Finance and Accounting Advisory solution set.
  • Develop relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, standard-setting bodies, industry associations, and alliance partners.
  • Represent the firm professionally in the market and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
  • Support the development of strategic, long-term business plans for the practice, including sector focus, offerings, capability requirements and revenue growth priorities.

Requirements

  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent. A relevant postgraduate qualification, including an MBA, is an advantage.
  • Practical familiarity with data analytics, automation, AI-enabled productivity tools or finance technology solutions, with sound judgement on governance and responsible use.
  • Strong finance and financing background, including financial analysis, funding structures, capital allocation, forecasting, performance management, and business case development.
  • Demonstrable experience working with banks or significant financial institutions, ideally including business development, client relationship management and advisory delivery.
  • Experience with finance transformation, operating model design, process improvement, accounting standards, reporting, controls or systems implementation is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in finance, accounting, treasury, corporate finance, financial services advisory, banking, strategy or related roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial or engagement leadership capacity.

  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, team leadership, coaching, and quality review skills.

  • Excellent report writing, executive presentation, facilitation and senior stakeholder communication skills.

Personal effectiveness:

  • Self-motivated, commercially aware, collaborative, resilient, and able to manage multiple priorities within tight timelines.

  • Willing to travel as required for client delivery and business development.
