Specializing in the conversion of aluminum scraps and Used Beverage Cans (UBC) into high-quality aluminum ingots, our plant initially boasted a production capacity of 1200MT per month. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Officer

Location: Ota, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • To develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment across all operations.
  • The HSE Officer will support risk management, regulatory compliance, accident prevention, and continuous improvement of safety standards within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant local regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all departments.
  • Organise safety drills, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Monitor waste disposal, emissions, and environmental impact in line with company policies and regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Support sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare periodic HSE performance reports for management review.
  • Track HSE KPIs and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses across operational areas.
  • Identify potential safety risks and implement preventive and corrective measures.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct regular HSE training and safety induction programs for staff and contractors.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant HSE experience, preferably in Engineering and Manufacturing company
  • Investigative and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication and training facilitation skills
  • Ability to enforce compliance diplomatically but firmly
  • Strong documentation and reporting ability.
  • Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON) is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and risk management principles
