Job Position: Portfolio Manager

Job Description

  • We are looking to employ a portfolio manager who will be responsible for managing portfolios in line with set objectives and assisting with implementing strategies to grow the company’s Assets under management. They will also provide general support to the Head, of Investments.

This role reports directly to the MD and responsibilities include:

  • Provide analysis of the market and identify opportunities and make proposals to the management for consideration and approval
  • Source and originate viable new businesses for the Company
  • Ensure compliance with Company regulations and company policies and guidelines
  • Effective management of projects and transactions
  • Regular update on portfolio activities and progression
  • Manage portfolios in line with set objectives and risk tolerances.
  • Provide market analysis and recommendations for effective business/management decisions
  • Develop the portfolio strategy and prudent risk management strategies
  • Effective management of clients’ portfolio and proprietary portfolio for optimal return
  • Prepare and deliver periodic report of portfolio performance to client and to management
  • Development and review of client investment propositions.
  • Maintain new and existing client relationships.
  • Construct successful investment portfolios informed by market conditions, economic trends, and client investment objectives.
  • Preparation of Investment proposals and investment risk analysis.
  • Liaise with team members to ensure that the research needs/inputs to actualize investment management objectives are delivered on a timely basis.
  • Ensure timely, reliable, and accurate reporting on all investment and Fund accounts/activities.
  • Evaluate the performance of investment portfolios and ensure compliance with standards provided by regulators including conforming with anti-money laundering requirements.
  • Process client Subscription/Deposits and Redemptions/withdrawals promptly.
  • Ensure all regulatory reports are filed in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with relevant investment and trading news and economic trends.
  • Any other task assigned by the Company/Group.

The ideal candidate is one with the following non-negotiable characteristics:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role within the same industry.
  • MBA or relevant MSc will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Impeccable interpersonal skills
  • Possession of CFA, and ACCA qualifications required.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Hands-on in making Pitch books, Information Memorandum, and Financial Projections.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly collaborative and thrives well in a fast-paced work environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and regulations
  • Excellent business acumen.
  • Attention to detail.
